Author: Benjamin Sanders

Ben Sanders started writing short stories at a young age and early on found a love of history and exploration. He graduated from Sentinel Highschool in Missoula, Montana in 1981 and attended the University of Montana in Missoula studying Art History. Before long he joined the military as an Army Ranger. In 1987 he returned to civilian life and studied at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver before returning to the University of Montana and continued serving in the Army National Guard. In 1989 he again joined the active duty Army and began his training in data analytics. Ben fought in the Persian Gulf War and served as an Army Recruiter in Idaho Falls, Idaho and Honolulu, Hawaii before he was medically discharged from injuries resulting from numerous parachute jumps and an armored vehicle accident. During that time Ben published two limited edition lithographic works of art of military historical themes. At that same time, he met and married his wife Tawni and settled in Mackay, Idaho in 1995. In 2003 they moved to Huntsville, Alabama for work and Ben began working in business information systems, data science and research and in his spare time formalized his study of western history and the American Civil War. Over the course of 15 years Ben studied what would become the biographies of his ancestors and their involvement in the war, the expansion of the western territories and their roles in the settling of the Arizona and Idaho/Montana territories and the early state hood of California and Montana. As a result Ben published his first historical biography on Wilbur Fisk Sanders and is working on the manuscript for his historical biography on William Francis Fitzgerald.
